Greek Community of Melbourne schools bring Orthodox Easter to life

The Greek connection schools of the Greek Community of Melbourne, (GCM), are committed to meaningful and originative learning experiences. That originative attack is wide successful their vacation programme during the schoolhouse break.

This year’s holidays coincided with Orthodox Easter, so the programme was dedicated to the solemnisation of Greek Orthodoxy. It highlighted the traditions and customs associated with it.

On Tuesday, April 7 and 8, successful Huntingdale and Balwyn, a warm, celebratory programme took place. Students explored the meaning of Holy Week done hands-on activities.

Through storytelling and discussion, they journeyed done the events from Lazarus Saturday and Palm Sunday done to the Resurrection, discovering the customs and traditions connected to each day.

The programme besides included a wide scope of originative activities, such arsenic decorating Easter candles (lambades), cards, and decorative eggs, arsenic well arsenic a special radical trade task centred connected Holy Week.
